Microgreen progress after 5 days

Here they are after days three and four respectively.  There seems to be some light fuzzy mold on some of them. If it doesn't clear up after the lid has come off, I'll start over again. Why the mold? I'm not sure. Maybe too wet, not enough air circulation, not warm enough?

Update: It's only been about 2 hours since the above pics post and the fuzziness is clearing up already!

  1. Appears to me you are seeing root hairs, not mold. However, most mold is associated with lack of air air circulation and high humidity.

  2. Melissa, you certainly may be correct. I will say tray had a lid on it and was moist. Just a little while after removing the lid the fuzziness is gone.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. It might have been because of not enough air circulation. I get mold in my greenhouse when it's closed for a few days.

  4. Hi Ana, I think you might be correct! When you open the green house does the mold abate?

  5. I have seen the mold before. It never seems to hurt anything.

  6. David; when did you remove the kitchen paper? Maybe that made it too moist?

  7. good thing you took the lid off when you did - where there's mold, there's often damping-off.

  8. @becky - seems no damage done.

@Mark - after 3 days. It might have, or it could have been the cover.

@garden girl, I think you are right!

    Thanks everyone for weighing in!

  9. David,
Yes, if the doors of the greenhouse are open, for a day or two, there is no mold. But then the soil dries very fast and it is time to water the plants again.
